NEW  STL Introduce New Rapid Detection Legionella Method

Legionnaires disease is caused by Legionella pnuemophilia bacteria which is widespread in natural water sources like ponds. In this state, the bacterium poses no threat to human health. However, in temperatures of 20 to 45°C, the bacteria can grow and, if inhaled, can cause Legionnaires disease, resulting in flu like symptoms. The presence of sediment, sludge, scale and biofilms, which often occur in man-made water systems such as cooling towers, whirlpool spas and air conditioning units provide ideal conditions for growth.

STL have a dedicated, purpose-built Legionella facility for the detection of Legionella bacteria. The laboratory, managed by skilled Microbiologists, is UKAS accredited and participates in the HPA Water EQA scheme for Legionella Isolations. We accept work from a wide variety of customers including water treatment companies, property managers, and health and sports centres.
